About
I am an assistant professor in Foundations at the University of Texas, San Antonio. My research interests include cultural studies, Foucault, nonhuman animals, representation, space and place, anarchist theory, and critical pedagogy. My larger project is connected to a rigorous sociaI and cultural critique that is truly interdisciplinary. This spans questioning notions of truth, finding ways to connect divergent theoretical traditions and rethinking common assumptions and practices. The dissertation I authored focused on four text-based classroom simulations and I argued that these reproduced dominant ideologies. I combined my analysis with suggestions for how classroom teachers can integrate simulations more critically. My journal publications are included on this site along with descriptions of two edited books that I have participated in co-creating. You will also find abstracts for manuscripts that I have submitted to journals that are currently in review. There are also abstracts for book chapters that are forthcoming or currently in print.
Thank you for taking the time to read my work.
"It is a strange situation. The space we love is unwilling to remain permanently closed. It deploys and appears to move elsewhere without difficulty: into other times, and on different planes of dream and memory." Gaston Bachelard
